Rachel’s practice is founded in drawing and incorporates elements of moving image, sound, and sculpture.

An interest in the generative potential of drawing (as a verb), her practice and research explores links between art, faith and language, drawing often on familial and autobiographical experiences and encounters.

Rachel’s working process is approached as thinking-through-drawing, holding space for investigation, paradox and doubt. She works with materials that reflect thematic concerns—paper, charcoal, wax, light—mediums that inherently reference shifting states, unfixedness, and sensitivity to the surrounding environment.

Born in Aotearoa, New Zealand, Rachel lives and works in regional Victoria. She recently completed a Master of Fine Arts (Research) at the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne.
